Dr Brooke Townsley (MA, DProf, RPSI, FCIL)

Dr. Brooke Townsley has 27 years of experience teaching interpreting and translation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has taught at Marmara University in Istanbul, Goldsmiths College, Southbank University, City University, and Middlesex University. Brooke has coordinated three European Union-funded research projects on legal interpretation and translation: the Building Mutual Trust 1 and Understanding Justice projects, and he has participated in the Qualitas Project, which focused on training and accreditation for Legal Interpretation and Translation within the EU.

As a member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), vice-chair of the Council (2009-2011), and chair of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) (2006-2011), Brooke played a pivotal role in establishing the NRPSI in its current format. He is also a Fellow of the CIOL, a board member of the European Network for Public Service Interpreting and Translation (ENPSIT), and a participant in the International Community Translation Research Group (ICTRG).
