Teaching and Learning

Each week, you’ll join two 2-hour live classes online. In these classes, you can work with your course tutor and interact with other students. After class, you’ll have self-study extension activities to build on your learning in the live class.

Practice and Assessment

Assessments are set throughout the 12-week course. These assessments provide an opportunity to practice your new skills and receive feedback on your performance. The assessments are all based on tasks you’ll face in your Level 6 DPSI Legal qualification. They include:

  • Written translation into and out of English
  • Simulated dialogue interpreting assignments
  • Oral sight translation into and out of English
  • Simultaneous interpreting into and out of English

In addition to your weekly live classes and feedback on your assessments, you’ll have the opportunity for one-to-one tutorials with your bilingual reviewer and your course tutor. They will help you with all aspects of your learning on the course.

Completion and Qualification

On completion of your course, you can decide whether to take all units or selected units of the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting qualification. Your course tutor will help you with this decision. You’ll also receive a Certificate of Completion confirming the training you have undertaken.
